Viewing and Editing Prices

Click the View/Edit Prices button to start Excel and display the price changing spreadsheet in the selected workbook. The spreadsheet Peachtree Prices will be displayed showing just the items you have specified by the filter.

The information shown in the columns is as follows:

A
Item ID
B
Item Description
C
Unused
D
The current cost that Peachtree computes on the Maintain Inventory form. This value is computed using the costing method that was specified when the item data was first set up in Peachtree.
E-N
The current Peachtree price levels for the items you have selected. For V7 and V8 there are only 5 price levels available, so columns J-N are hidden.
O
Unused
P-AI
The price factors you use to compute updated price levels. Only columns for the number of factors you asked for will be shown; the remaining unused columns will be hidden.
AJ
Unused
AK-AT
The new price levels you have computed. These formulas you use for these values can include references to the current cost, current price levels, price factors, and other new price levels for the same item. You can also include absolute references to data on other sheets. For Peachtree V7 and V8, which only support 5 price levels, columns AP-AT will be hidden.

The first time you select an item to display in the spreadsheet, the default value of Factor 1 is 1 and the remaining factors are set to 0. The default formulas for the new price levels are the current price level times Factor 1, so the new price levels will be exactly the same as the old price levels. You can enter formulas or values in the factor and new price level cells to compute new prices in whatever fashion is appropriate to your company. The formulas you entered will be saved if you update Peachtree with the new prices, then the formulas will be preserved for the next time you use the price change spreadsheet.

You should not reference cells from a different item in a formula because you are not guaranteed that the item will be at the same row in the spreadsheet the next time you use the price change spreadsheet. This can happen if new items may have been entered in Peachtree or you change the filter parameters.

If you reference a cell on another sheet in a formula, you should use an absolute reference to that cell. Since the row of an item can change from one use to another, you are not guaranteed that a relative cell reference will later refer to the same cell on the other sheet. Alternatively you could name the cells on the other sheet and refer to them by name.

Changing Factor Labels

The default column labels for the factors are "Factor 1", "Factor 2", etc. You can rename these labels to something that is more meaningful to you. If you update Peachtree with the new prices, then the new names for your labels will be preserved for the next time you use the price change spreadsheet.

Updating Prices in Peachtree

You should notice a small floating form on top of the spreadsheet labeled "Price Changer". If you click the Update button on this form, the new prices you have computed will be written back to Peachtree, the factor labels and the formulas for the factors and new prices will be saved, and the workbook will be closed. If you click the Cancel button, the workbook will be closed without updating Peachtree and the labels and formulas will not be saved.
